I am the daughter of first generation Finnish-American farmers and was raised on a farm in San Joaquin Valley, California. Farm work and an early business in the horse show industry gave me a love of agriculture and instilled a strong work ethic.
My husband John and I have been married for 30 years. We raised 5 children and will see our 5th grandchild this December. We love our quiet county lifestyle of family, church family, community and our farm.
Well, actually it can be really busy at times… With my elderly mom and sister who takes care of her, living with us we always have someone doing something. Plus, at the moment, we have a daughter living at home while she is working two jobs to save up for her first home. Our college student daughter is raising weaner pigs, which makes things really interesting around here! With their attendant dogs, cats and horses… It makes for a fun and busy place! We are blessed that 2 of our sons live just a few minutes drive away so we can have grandkid fixes even mid week! Yes, we babysit, but mostly it seems they want dog sitters. We do that too…
I became involved in politics while homeschooling our children using the Thomas Jefferson Education method. When it came to teaching our children leadership skills, I felt there was no substitute for leading by example.
Before I took office I was instrumental in forming a Citizens Alliance for Property Rights chapter and organizing a seminar on property rights.
I am completing my first term as County Commissioner.
Taking initiative when needed is a passion for me.
I have organized events for the ongoing education of myself and my colleagues. Current Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) policy supporting the transfer of public lands is partly due to my efforts along with several other commissioners.
I am a member of the Public Lands Steering Committee with the National Association of Counties and belong to several local agricultural organizations. I support the second amendment by supporting my local firearms trainers and gun shops. To learn more about what I have done as a county commissioner click here.
Finally, I am thankful for the saving grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible is my main reference for life. I submit my concerns to prayer and learn to wait on the Lord. I am here because I love my neighbors. But it is only because He loved me first am I able.
The glory goes to God!
Prayers to Our Creator Relating to His Creation
People to Pray for Public Lands
Lord, I ask you to raise a multitude to pray as the Persistent Widow.
Call those who love You to pray over these lands and not lose heart.
Lord, many are the judges who neither fear God nor respect man.
Let us not waiver in our faith and faint.
Let us overcome the adversary and secure justice!
Cause the wicked judges to relent!
I praise Your name, Jesus! And in Your name, amen.
The Parable of the Persistent Widow Luke 18:1-8
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
Prayer for a Coordination Strategy
Lord, I praise Your and know You are mighty! I can’t see forward on this so I wait on you. I rest in You Lord, and wait patiently. You promise those who wait upon the Lord – they shall inherit the land. Lord, I know that land you are preparing for us is in heaven, and I praise You for your mercy and grace. But I ask that You have mercy for us as we occupy this land. If it be Your will, grant us help in coordination. For courage, words, wisdom, and help. Let our strategy be Yours. In Jesus name, amen.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!
Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.
For the evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
Prayer for Coordination – a Productive Harmony
Sec. 2 [42 USC § 4321]. NEPA policy act of 1969
The purposes of this Act are: To declare a national policy which will encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between man and his environment; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and biosphere and stimulate the health and welfare of man; to enrich the understanding of the ecological systems and natural resources important to the Nation;
Lord, I pray love among our boards, volunteers, committees and neighbors. Help us to rejoice in hope – to be patient in tribulation – constant in prayer! Lord, I ask strength to bless those who curse us. Help us to live in harmony with one another. Expose those who do not wish harmony between man and the YOUR environment because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator (Rom 1:25). Lord, we seek YOU and worship YOU the mighty Creator!
Grant us peace, remove haughtiness and vengeance. Let us overcome evil with good – by your grace and mercy – to your own glory! In Jesus name!
Romans 12: 9-21
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
A Prayer for Victory and to Send the Enemy into Confusion.
Lord, I ask in faith for victory in this day of trouble. Cause our enemy to totter by your power and bring them down, O Lord, our shield! Protect me and those who love You and trust in You!
I ask in faith for victory in the plans we have set before you – seeking Your will and Your word!
Lord, when YOU see fit, we ask Your supernatural presence to confuse our enemy and give us a way to escape. And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic (Exodus 14:24)
In Jesus name, we praise You! Amen!
Psalms 20: 1-5
May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!
Kill them not, lest my people forget; make them totter by your power and bring them down,
O Lord, our shield!
A Prayer for My Enemies
Lord, my flesh is weak and I fall into anger and hurt and judgment… Forgive me, and give me love to forgive! Let me so filled with Your Spirit that the argument and lofty opinions bring out YOU in me – and that every thought is brought captive that is of the flesh and false to Your Spirit. Lord I ask Blessing, Truth, and Forgiveness over those who come against me.
In Jesus name, Amen!
Matt 5: 43-45
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
2 Cor 10:4-5
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
A Prayer for the Cattlemen and Farmers
Lord, my heart is burdened to pray for the many cattlemen and farmers that are suffering under oppression. I lift them up to You that they will remain steadfast. I praise Your name that many of them know You and seek You! Reveal Yourself to those who don’t know You. Lord, You gave man dominion over the animals and land, yet You are still the owner. All this is Yours, Lord! Thank You for the many gifts that sustain us.
The oppressors decree and seize and cause us to be in bondage.
Lord, in faith and believing, I ask for words of wisdom, intervention, and way of escape! For many call out in Your Holy Name! Give us the patience of Job who knew his Redeemer lives! We pray for mercy, Lord!
In Jesus Name, Amen.
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.
Micah 2: 1-2
Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil on their beds!
When the morning dawns, they perform it,because it is in the power of their hand.
They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them away;
They oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.
Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression,
To turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right,
For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
