Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It has been an honor to be part of this current board of County Commissioners and to serve my neighbors in Pend Oreille County.
Leadership in a board is not a matter of winning one’s point but rather working through problems together in a manner that upholds the values of respect and patience while articulating the principles that one holds dear.
I appreciate my seatmates’ knowledge and tenacity. We each bring unique experiences, skills and perspectives to the table which helps with the vast array of topics a County Commissioner faces each day.
I am pleased to use the word “we” in the accomplishments we have seen over the last few years. That “we” includes the committed leaders and support staff at the county who make big things happen with a small budget. The credit for the continued budget success and improvements on infrastructure and road maintenance applies to more people than I can mention and I appreciate each and every one of them!
Pend Oreille County is facing some challenges. How do we grow the economy for more jobs and improved tax base for basic services while protecting our beautiful land, water, air, wildlife and our rural way of life? How will we provide the safety net of ambulance service? How will we deal with the risk of wild fires? And, as we are all getting older, how will we be able to stay in our homes as the health care system changes?
I am grateful for the commitment and knowledge found in the community of Pend Oreille County and the local government of Pend Oreille County. No one can claim to be able to solve the issues we face on their own. Together, we are finding solutions. As a county commissioner, part of my job is to be that connection to state and federal agencies, lawmakers, experts in the field, and, most importantly, to the people of our community. I have been able to form working relationships and connections that help find solutions. I enjoy seeing the different connections our board and our whole county team of elected, directors and staff have made. We are your eyes and ears. I am here as a citizen and neighbor to affect how Pend Oreille County uses our tax money to provide key services.
Thank you for trusting me with this duty.
Public Safety, Wise Spending and Property Rights are my focus. I ask for your vote.
I am committed to listening to your concerns, studying the issues, and seeking principled solutions.
